Hi handy In any case, I don't have a solution for the situation you now describe but i do have a " best guess " explanation I want to downgrade to XP 32 bit system. Said it had to do with some of the chips and the processor. I did call HP service techs and they are telling me that this model that you are talking about here can not be down graded to a 32 bit operating system at all auio its Vista or XP.

I ended up getting most of them, there were still a few ddv4-1435dx ones in the device manager.
